Application Of Hit and Run^TM cricket To Tests -

For tests the first inning is played like a regular test but with "Hit and RunT" cricket format ( one run minus to batting side if legitimate ball goes without run ). Both the teams are expected to complete their first turn of batting . For the second inning , the number of deliveries are calculated as per the time left. If the time left is 2 days after completion of first innings and when normally 90 over ( 540 deliveries) are bowled each day ,each team gets 540 deliveries to bowl and bat The first batting team faces the 50% of deliveries planned ( i. e. 540 in this case )and then the second team comes to play. This way , in the second inning , the game turns out to be a limited over game keeping the excitement and charm alive and is played as the limited delivery version of the Hit and RunT cricket as described above .THE FIRST INNING SCORES ARE CARRIED TO SECOND INNINGS AS IN REGULAR TEST VERSIONS.

THIS WILL MAKE TESTS AS EXITED AS LIMITED OVER MATCHES -

PLEASE NOTE :

1. 'A' TEAM CAN PLAY COMPLETE INNING OR DECLARE THEIR GAME ASKING OPPOSITE TEAM TO PLAY IN FIRST INNINGS. HERE 'B' TEAM PLAYS THEIR FIRST INNING. WHATEVER TIME IS LEFT AFTER COMPLETION OR DECLARATION OF THEIR FIRST INNINGS , THE REMAINING TIME IS CONVERTED IN TO NUMBER OF DELIVERIES AND PLAYED AS PER HIT AND RUNT CRICKET LIMITED OVER MATCHES.

2. DRAW IS POSSIBLE WHEN BOTH TEAMS PLAY OUT ALL FIVE DAYS OF THE GAME FOR THE FIRST INNINGS PLAY ONLY, LEAVING NO TIME FOR SECOND INNINGS.

3. FOLLOW-ON RULE IS AS PER THE PRESENT RULE. AS USUAL THE GAME IS CONVERTED IN TO LIMITED OVER MATCH BUT TEAM B (WHICH IS FACING A FOLLOW ON) COMES TO BAT AGAIN AND THEN TEAM A COMES TO PLAY. IN NORMAL CASE TEAM A WILL COME TO PLAY AFTER THE FIRST INNINGS PLAY.

POWER PLAY FIELD ARRANGEMENTS FOR LIMITED DELIVERY MATCHES:

EXACTLY AS PER PRESENT VERSIONS. GENERALLY 40 % DELIVERIES ARE POWER PLAYED FOR TESTS SECOND INNINGS.

VARIOUS VERSIONS OF HIT AND RUNT CRICKET,

VERSION 1 -

HERE THE CONCEPT OF HIT AND RUNT CRICKET IS APPLIED TO LIMITED NUMBER OF OVER SUCH AS FIRST 10 OVER AND THEN TWO SPELLS OF 5 OVER EACH AS PER FIELDING CAPTAIN'S DECISION.

VERSION 2 -

HERE THE APPLICATION OF LIMITED OVER VERSION OF HIT AND RUNT CRICKET, CONCEPT IS COMBINED WITH FIELD RESTRICTION ( POWER GAME ) OVER.

VERSION 3 -

HERE THE APPLICATION OF LIMITED OVER VERSION OF HIT AND RUNT CRICKET, CONCEPT IS NOT COMBINED WITH FIELD RESTRICTION ( POWER GAME ) OVER. THEY ARE PLAYED SEPARATELY. OTHER SIMILAR VARIATIONS CAN BE WORKED OUT FOR SUITABILITY AND ADOPTABILITY OF THE NEW VERSIONS, BUT ALL WILL BE CALLED AS HIT AND RUNT CRICKET TOURNAMENT BASED ON THIS VERSION WILL BE PLANNED AT THE END OF 2008.
